Dominic Ball, during his loan spell at Rangers
Dominic Ball has hinted to The Scottish Sun that he may have ended up joining Rangers once again this season had they made an earlier move.
The defender spent the last campaign on loan with the Gers, helping them win promotion to the Scottish Premiership and the Challenge Cup while also reaching the Scottish Cup final.

But despite Mark Warburton’s attempts to bring him back to the club ahead of their return to the top flight, the 21-year-old opted to join Championship side Rotherham United on a permanent deal.
However, he suggested that a return to the Light Blues could have happened if they had acted sooner as he initially had his heart set on staying at Ibrox.

“There were a few others clubs interested including Rangers,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“I loved my time at Ibrox, and after the season ended it was my intention to stay.
“But I just thought it would be better to try something else.”

While Warburton added depth at the heart of defence and in the holding midfield role during the summer window – both positions which Ball featured in during his loan spell – there is little doubt that the former Tottenham man would have been a good addition to the squad.
As well as his versatility, he already understood how Warburton wanted his side to play and his age means that he should only get better as he gets further experience.
And had Warburton decided to make a move sooner, Ball may well have been realising his potential with the Gers rather than at the New York Stadium.
