Tim Sherwood has stated that Aaron Ramsdale is possibly Arsenal’s ‘best passer’ of the ball, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (11/12/21 at 5:35 pm).

Arsenal recorded a 3-0 win over Southampton yesterday at the Emirates, with Sherwood stating that Mikel Arteta will be ‘delighted’ with his goalkeeper’s display.

Whilst there was a 40-year-old keeper stepping in for an emergency crisis for Southampton in Willy Caballero.

His fellow counterpart on the other end was riding another wave and producing another top-quality display in between the sticks.

Even though the Gunners have been indifferent this season, one man that has constantly been putting in the performances has been Ramsdale and he is turning out to be a very good signing for the club.

After watching the game for Sky yesterday, Sherwood named the very unlikely player as probably ‘best passer’ of the ball the north London club have.

“Ramsdale will be delighted with the clean sheet,” said Sherwood.

“And he made some good saves, certainly in the first half. He makes good saves at good times. He makes some big saves.

“He dominates his penalty area as well. When they were sticking the ball in there, from set-pieces, he was coming and he was punching when he needed to. And collecting.

“Mikel will be delighted with the way that he plays. He’s almost the best passer that they have. He is confident in possession.”

All the talk before the game was about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being dropped by Arteta for disciplinary reasons.

But the players ensured that didn’t affect them as they secured, in the end, a comfortable three points against an out-of-sorts Southampton team.

It means that Arsenal are still sitting in the top six and they are one point outside of the Champions League places.

One week, it’s all rosy in the Arsenal garden and things are going well for Arteta, but then it’s a complete mess and he needs to be booted out of the door.
