Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is seemingly on the verge of being sacked – and one-time Arsenal target Domenec Torrent has been backed for the job.
Barca were humiliated 3-0 away at Benfica on Wednesday night, leading to questions over Koeman’s future.
Guillem Balague has told BBC Sport that Koeman’s exit is now inevitable, with Barcelona seeking change.
A number of names have been touted, with Domenec Torrent now one of them.
Torrent for Barcelona?
Names like Xavi and Roberto Martinez have been suggested over the last 24 hours, with Torrent something of a left-field shout.
A former Barcelona coach under Pep Guardiola, Torrent followed Pep to Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
Torrent went on to manage New York City and Flamengo, winning more than 48% of his games in both roles.
Now though, former Barcelona midfielder Marc Crosas has taken to Twitter to back Torrent for a career-changing move to the Camp Nou hot seat.
Crosas believes there are ‘thousands of reasons’ to appoint Torrent, urging Barcelona to think outside the box and go with Pep’s aide.

Arteta wanted Torrent at Arsenal
This would be a huge rise for Torrent, especially as he was being linked with a coaching job at Arsenal less than two years ago.
The Daily Mail reported that Mikel Arteta wanted to add Torrent to his coaching staff at Arsenal.
The pair had worked together at Manchester City and a reunion was seen as ‘likely’.
In the end, the deal didn’t happen. Torrent’s path took him to Brazil instead, but may yet see him become Barcelona boss – a big step up form an Arsenal coach.
