Speaking on The Beautiful Game Podcast, Leon Balogun has been discussing his former Rangers teammate Alfredo Morelos.
Morelos has been one of the very best players in Scotland over the past few years, but he’s lost a bit of form this term.
Indeed, three goals in 12 league appearances isn’t the type of return we’ve come to expect from the South American in recent years.
To be fair to Morelos though, he has suffered with injuries over the past year, so fitness is seemingly still an issue.
However, according to Balogun, the striker is working his socks off to get back to his best, stating that the Colombian is doing extra drills after training in order to rediscover his peak form.

Morelos is working hard
Balogun discussed his former teammate.
“Keeping him on and giving him a new deal would be a big sign for the club, and being able to keep one of their key players over the past few years,” Balogun said.
“I think for him, he’s probably still not up and running 100% because he came back from a big injury.
“Obviously, with Colak being in there now, it doesn’t make it easier because he’s just scoring goals for fun.
“So that means Buf isn’t getting as much game time as he used to.
“But from what I’ve seen, Morelos is working harder than ever before, doing extra even outside of the training ground.
“Just what he gives the team, even in terms of being a link-up player, I think it would be massive to keep him on board.”
Back on form
Morelos has been working hard to get back to his best behind the scenes, and there’s reason to believe he could be about to hit form.
Indeed, if the striker has kept this regime up throughout the World Cup break, he should be fitter than ever and ready to fire.
Of course, being reunited with Michael Beale should also help his confidence too.
Let’s hope that Morelos is about to start finding the back of the net once more, because he’s a joy to watch when he’s in full flow.
