Speaking on The Square Ball Podcast, Angus Kinnear has spoken very highly of Leeds new-boy Raphinha, saying that he’ll run through walls for Marcelo Bielsa this season.

The Whites’ CEO was talking about the club’s strategy when it comes to signing players and how important it is that they have the right personality as well as the right skillset to play for Leeds United.

Fortunately, it seems as though Raphinha has the perfect combination of both, with Kinnear describing him as a dog of war.

“That’s where your network of who do we know who’s played with them before, who do we know who’s coached him before, when we meet them, what is their family like, do they turn up with a massive entourage, what sort of questions do they ask?

“That’s where you see, and I think we’ve seen it from Raphinha. He’s not a tricky Brazilian winger, he’s that and a a dog of war, who will run through walls for Marcelo.”

This is so encouraging to hear if you’re a Leeds fan.

Raphinha joined the club with a lot of hype around him and his talents, and we’ve seen glimpses of what he can do with his wondergoal against Everton, but he’s played just over 500 minutes in the league this season, so we’re still not 100 per cent sure on what type of player he is.

Kinnear sounds very certain about what type of player the Brazilian is, and if we’re being honest, he sounds like exactly the type of player you’d want in Marcelo Bielsa’s side, a view that the man himself has already echoed.

If Kinnear’s description is accurate, we can only imagine that Leeds fans will grow to love the winger even more as the weeks and months go by.
