Garth Crooks has written on BBC Sport that Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is not trying too hard to impress any more.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward has included Liverpool striker Nunez in his Premier League BBC Team of the Week.
The 23-year-old Uruguay international striker scored two goals for Liverpool against Southampton at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side won the Premier League match 3-1 this past weekend.
Garth Crooks on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez
Crooks wrote: “The young Darwin Nunez is starting to find his rhythm at Anfield and, as a consequence, the goals are beginning to come naturally as he doesn’t seem to be trying so hard to impress any more.
“The 23-year-old Uruguay international undoubtedly has all the elements to become a top-class striker and might one day even fill the role left by Sadio Mane – although that is a big ask.
“Southampton did have a go, but didn’t have the class or firepower to really trouble the former European champions. Nunez, on the other hand, desperately wants to get on the end of things which is a nightmare for any defence.”

Getting better
In our view, Darwin Nunez is getting better and better for Liverpool.
The 23-year-old is playing his natural game and is not trying too hard to make an impression.
Nunez is a very good striker and a brilliant goalscorer, and it is clear that when on song, he is a force to be reckoned with.
The Uruguay international striker has scored five goals and provided two assists in seven Premier League starts for Liverpool so far this season.
The youngster has scored three goals in three UEFA Champions League starts for the Reds so far this campaign.
For Liverpool to finish in the top four of the Premier League table and to win the UEFA Champions League this season, in our view, Nunez has to be on top of his game.
