Hoffenheim coach Sebastian Hoeness is demanding greater consistency from Ryan Sessegnon after a mixed weekend for the Tottenham Hotspur loanee, as reported by Kicker.
Jose Mourinho would certainly have been impressed by the way the London-born 20-year-old bounced back from a difficult first-half in Sinsheim on Saturday.
Sessegnon was arguably at fault as Nicolas Gonzalez cancelled out Christoph Baumgartner’s early opener.
But the former Fulham wonder-kid made amends at the other end with the sort of tidy finish that encouraged Spurs to fight off numerous Premier League rivals and secure his £30 million signature in the summer of 2019.
Sessegnon has now started each of the last three Bundesliga games at Hoffenheim but Hoeness, a former Bayern Munich reserve coach, is not getting carried away.
“His development is decent, he does not yet have the consistency that we would like,” Hoeness, the nephew of ex-Bayern president Uli, explained after a 3-3 draw that leaves Hoffenheim 12th in the table.

“But he definitely helps us because offers us options on the left. He always points out back to what he is capable of. His development with us is not over yet.”
Sessegnon has featured largely on the left wing, and even at centre-half, during his time in Germany.
But, with Robert Skov and Konstantinos Stafylidis unavailable on Saturday, the England U21 international showcased his versatility by dropping in at left-back.
It is that versatility which could earn Sessegnon a place in Mourinho’s plans when his Bundesliga loan spell comes to an end.
