Jermaine Jenas has praised Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane on BBC Sport for his assist for Raheem Sterling’s goal for England against Iran at the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar on Monday.
Kane started for England in their opening Group B game against Iran.
The Tottenham striker did not score, but he was a very influential figure for Gareth Southgate’s side.
Kane gave two assists, first for Chelsea star Sterling in first-half injury time and then for Manchester United forward Marcus Rasford on 71 minutes.
Former Tottenham midfielder and BBC Sport pundit Jenas was particularly impressed by Kane’s cross for Sterling’s goal.
Jermaine Jenas on Tottenham and England star Harry Kane
Jenas said: “What a start! Harry Kane doesn’t even need to lift his head once, he just plays it in to where he would want it. The finish from Sterling is absolutely spot on, outside of the boot, on the volley, pick that one out!”

Excellent again
Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world, but we know that the Tottenham Hotspur star can drop deep and create chances for his teammates.
And he did that for England against Iran.
Yes, Kane will be disappointed that he did not score as England hammered Iran, but at the same time, he played well and looked very comfortable dropping deep and creating attacking moves.
For England to win the World Cup in Qatar, in our view, Kane will have to play just as well as he did against Iran today.
