Speaking on the ITV Football Podcast, Andy King has been giving his view on Leicester City star Jamie Vardy.

King of course knows Vardy very well from his time in the East Midlands, and he didn’t have enough good things to say about him.

The striker hasn’t been scoring many goals as of late, but King says that he’s still making big contributions to the team by helping Kelechi Iheanacho’s game.

“It’s not like they’ve stood on each other’s toes or are getting in each other’s way, it’s not like that at all. If you look at a lot of Kelechi’s goals, they’ve come from Vardy breaking down the wing and crossing or getting to the by-line and stuff like that. Obviously, Vardy scored a few penalties earlier this season whereas Leicester haven’t had one recently, so that’s dried him up as well, but the most important thing, and Vards would agree with this, is that the team’s still winning,” King said.

“He doesn’t look any slower than when you played with him five years ago does he?” The podcast’s host then asked.

“He’s a freak of nature isn’t he? He’s one of them, he doesn’t do anything by the book in that he doesn’t eat like he should he doesn’t drink what he should, he doesn’t do anything he should do, but it works for him.”

King is absolutely right about Vardy.

The striker is notorious for drinking a copious amount of energy drinks and even wine before games, but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of the Premier League’s greatest ever strikers.

As King says, it works for him, so who are we to question his diet and training regime.
