Don Hutchison has shared that Peter Schmeichel agreed that he isn’t ‘convinced’ with Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, as he told Stadium Astro.

The former Toffees player stated that the Premier League legend thinks Everton’s main man between the sticks is ‘very emotional’.

Pickford is England’s number one, but his erraticness in between the sticks has been questioned and he is like a marmite-like figure.

Hutchison shared what Schmeichel told him about the Everton man, who was in action tonight against Southampton.

“Jordon Pickford doesn’t convince me,” Hutchison told Stadium Astro. “I work with Peter Schmeichel a lot who was one of the best goalkeepers that we have ever seen in the Premier League and he concurs with me that Jordan Pickford is very emotional.

“I have seen Pickford make some unbelievable saves. Then all of a sudden, he’s punching the air, he’s high-fiving everyone.

“And Peter Schmeichel said to me that ‘when he does that, what happens to him when he makes a bad save?’ What you cannot be according to Peter Schmeichel is a goalkeeper that his confidence is so, so high and then when you have a bad game you are so low.

“The very best goalkeepers have an even keel. And they keep themselves grounded. I think Carlo Ancelotti might look at that position or he might think he’s England’s number one and that’s one area I am not going to touch.”

A big summer awaits Pickford in the sense of what Carlo Ancelotti will do in the transfer market.

If the Italian opts to buy a new keeper then it’s curtains for the Englishmen and his international career.

But if he sticks with him then he has a lot to prove next season that he can be consistent, learn from his mistakes and not be in the limelight for the wrong reasons on the field of play.
