Yannick Bolasie has taken to Twitter to defend Dominic Calvert-Lewin, after the Everton striker appeared on the cover of Homme+.

What’s the story?

Well, Calvert-Lewin was photographed on the front cover of Homme+ wearing what some have described as a schoolgirl outfit.

The £1.5m man was seen wearing flared shorts – which some mistook for a skirt – and a pink bag over his shoulder as he displayed another example of his brave fashion.

Calvert-Lewin and Tom Davies have been known to pull off some daring outfits, and we commend the pair of them for breaking free from the shackles of society.

Understandably, on this closed minded planet, some poked fun at the England international, although Bolasie wasn’t having it.

You can see his defence of Calvert-Lewin in full below.

Bolasie is spot on – if he’s happy, the 24-year-old can do as he pleases.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is an Everton role model

You don’t have to have similar fashion taste to Calvert-Lewin to admire what the former Sheffield United man is doing right now.

The Everton No.9 is breaking the mould, inspiring young Toffees fans to be different and think outside the box in this regimented society.

Calvert-Lewin is showing youngsters all over the United Kingdom that it’s okay to express yourself, even if some may mock you for it.

As a Premier League footballer, he is a role model, and he’s certainly living up to that title.

Even if just one young football fan feels empowered to be themselves thanks to Calvert-Lewin, his efforts will have been made worthwhile.
