Everton and West Ham United are both said to be battling to sign Andre Gomes this summer.

West Ham United’s hopes of landing Andre Gomes ahead of Everton may rest on Adrien Rabiot.

Le 10 Sport claim that Everton are interested in snapping up Rabiot on a free transfer, and if they could get him they would surely be hard pushed to bring in Gomes too.

With Idrissa Gueye’s place in Everton’s line-up already secure, there is a feeling that Rabiot would be an upgrade on Gomes – even though the Portuguese international enjoyed a great season at Goodison Park.

The Daily Star have reported how Gomes has told friends that he is expecting to sign for Everton, but West Ham have been battling to buy him too, with a £20 million bid submitted according to Sky Sports.

However, with the Toffees seemingly leading the race, West Ham’s hopes may now rest on Rabiot.

If Rabiot joins Everton it may just put second thoughts into Gomes’s mind about heading to Merseyside too, as he would no longer be guaranteed to start.

However, if the Toffees miss out on signing the PSG man it is difficult to see how West Ham have any chance of landing Gomes.
