Does West Ham striker clear-out suggest they are chasing former Nigerian star Odion Ighalo?

Speculation claims West Ham United are preparing a major striker clear-out.

West Ham have turned a corner under David Moyes but are still right in the relegation mix this season.

The Hammers face a crucial run of winnable fixtures which could go some way to securing their Premier League safety.

But David Moyes has to juggle getting results on the pitch with securing some important signings on it to help West Ham stay up.

Moyes has bemoaned the fact he has am imbalanced squad with too many forwards.

And according to reports this week the East Londoners are prepared to sell Andre Ayew, Diafra Sakho, Javier Hernandez and even Andy Carroll should they receive satisfactory offers.

So could the reported striker clear-out suggest that West Ham are one of two Premier League clubs reportedly interested in former Watford star Odion Ighalo?

Hammers co-owner David Sullivan admitted previously he wanted to bring Ighalo to West Ham after his brilliant first debut season in the Premier League at Vicarage Road where he scored 17 goals.

But the striker endured a difficult second season in the top flight netting just twice in 19 appearances before being sold to Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai for £20 million.

Ighalo has scored 15 goals in 27 games there and now according to Sky Sports he is open to a return to England with two clubs interested.

Time will tell if the Hammers are one of the interested parties but given their apparent willingness to clear the decks up front he could be a good addition.
