Swansea are said to be interested in re-signing Wilfried Bony from Manchester City amid speculation Chelsea want Fernando Llorente.

Swansea City are considering a move to re-sign Wilfried Bony from Manchester City this summer, according to Foot Mercato, two-and-a-half years after selling him to their Premier League rivals.

The Manchester Evening News has explained that Bony has been told he is surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium and has been left out of City’s squad currently on a pre-season tour of the USA as a result.

The Swans face competition for the striker’s signature, however, with Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Lille, Marseille and West Bromwich Albion also thought to be interested – according to the Sun.

However, does the fact that the South Wales club are involved in the chase at all suggest that they are perhaps planning for life without 2016/17 topscorer Fernando Llorente?

The Evening Standard claimed earlier this month that Chelsea had reignited their interest in Llorente after failing to sign him in January, with Antonio Conte yet to secure any of his striker targets so far this summer.

The Independent reports that Diego Costa has been left off the Blues’ own pre-season tour as his exit from Stamford Bridge draws closer, but as yet no one has been recruited to replace the Spaniard.

Perhaps Llorente could be that man and with Swansea taking a close look at Bony – who scored 35 goals in 70 games for them previously – perhaps boss Paul Clement is already resigned to losing the 32-year-old.
