Stuart Dallas did not have a great season on a personal level for Leeds United in 2016-17.
Leeds United winger Stuart Dallas did not enjoy a good season. The Northern Ireland international, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, scored just two goals and provided three assists in the Championship.
Dallas was in and out of the team, managing to make only 20 starts in the Championship with a further 11 coming as a substitute.
The 26-year-old has been criticised by Leeds fans on social networking site Twitter, as reported by HITC (click here, here and here to read more).
The winger is a good player and has been successful in the Championship, first with Brentford and then with Leeds (in his debut season at Elland Road).
Of course, just like any other player, Dallas needs to improve further and had a disappointing season in 2016-17.
The former Crusaders attacker has a contract with Leeds until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, and he has suggested that he wants to remain at Elland Road until then at least.
“It’s been a bit up and down for me personally,” Dallas told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “I didn’t start great but I don’t like to use the excuse that I was tired because I’m not the only player who came back from a major tournament. It’s an easy excuse to use that.
“I got back in and I’d been doing all right – I could have done better – but then I got an injury and it set me back again. I’ve been a bit-part player but I’ve still enjoyed it.
“I’m contracted here, going into my final season obviously, but I love it. The fans have always made me feel welcome. You do get a bit slated at times but that’s just a way of life and most of the time it’s deserved.”
