Back in April, The Mirror claimed that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy was planning talks with Son Heung-min over a contract extension.

The 25-year-old has arguably been Spurs’ most impressive player in recent weeks and has now scored in four successive games.

Son, whose existing deal expires in 2020, has the same length of time remaining on his contract as Toby Alderweireld but it would appear as if signing up the Belgian is a matter of much more urgency when, really, it shouldn’t be.

The Bayer Leverkusen man is gradually developing into a huge player for Pochettino and the club’s hierarchy need to acknowledge his rise in the form of a new deal.

The longer it goes without being offered, the more Son could justifiably feel that he isn’t as appreciated as Alderweireld and this isn’t a player Tottenham want to lose. At 25, he is only going to get better and Levy needs to ensure that his best years are spent in North London.
