Tottenham Hotspur fans would surely love to see Gareth Bale return to the club this summer.

According to a report from Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Real Madrid are willing to listen to offers in the region of €70 million (£61 million) for Gareth Bale, and that could make a move back to Tottenham for the Welshman suddenly far more viable.

The 28-year-old left Spurs for Los Blancos in the summer of 2013, for a then world record fee of £85.3 million, and he has gone on to chalk up an impressive 81 goals and 59 assists in 183 appearances for the Spanish giants.

Bale has struggled for game-time and form this season, however, and has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.

The final straw for the Wales international’s career in the Spanish capital might just have been when he was left out of Madrid’s Champions League semi-final clash with Bayern Munich last night.

Not only that, but he was also overlooked by Zinedine Zidane in favour of Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio, who were both used as second half substitutes against the German champions.

Don Balon claims that Bale is desperate to leave Madrid, and that the Spanish giants will be willing to sell him this summer for £61 million.

Whilst it would still be a surprise to see Spurs splash out that kind of money for one player, with Champions League football almost guaranteed for another season, they would be capable of pushing the boat out, if they really wanted to bring Bale back to north London.

And what a signing he would be for Tottenham.

The 28-year-old possesses the kind of talent that would surely help take the Lilywhites to another level, and for £61 million, it could turn out to be a small price to pay.
