Millwall signed Ben Marshall from Norwich City on loan last season.

According to the Eastern Daily Press, Norwich City have opted against giving Ben Marshall a Premier League squad number for the season – an indication he could leave the club this summer.
Marshall signed for Norwich from Wolverhampton Wanderers 12 months ago. The Eastern Daily Press claimed the Canaries beat Millwall to his signature in a £1.5 million deal with Marshall signing a four-year deal.
Prior to his move to Carrow Road, the 28-year-old was on loan at Millwall where he became a real fans’ favourite at The Den, scoring three goals in 16 league appearances.
Marshall struggled for first-team action at Norwich last season, and he subsequently re-joined Millwall on loan last January where he played a further 16 times – helping the Lions preserve their Championship status.
It’s clear Millwall have a strong connection with the player, and his latest setback at Norwich could clear a path for Neil Harris’s side to finally sign him on a permanent deal.

Millwall finished just one place above the relegation zone last season. So far this summer, they’ve managed to replace David Martin with Frank Fielding and Lee Gregory with Matt Smith, while retaining Alex Pearce.
The South London club must strengthen if they wish to avoid another season of struggle, and Marshall would give them the sort of quality in wide areas they severely lacked at times last term.
