Graham Dorrans would be Rangers’ second most expensive signing since 2010 if they were to meet Norwich City’s asking price this summer.
As any disgruntled Rangers fan will tell you, the club is hardly awash with disposable funds. With chairman Dave King frequently lambasted by supporters for refusing to put his hand in his pocket, the club have been forced to rely on free-agent has-beens and short-term loans for far too long.
In fact, the £1.8 million they paid Preston North End for Joe Garner last summer, per the Daily Record, was the most they’d splashed out on a player since bringing Nikica Jelavic to Ibrox back in 2010.
Therefore, it would certainly be a statement of intent if Pedro Caixinha’s side were to pay a similar fee to sign Graham Dorrans this summer. The Daily Mail claims that Norwich City want around £1.5 million for the Scotland international, a boyhood Rangers fan who is understood to be interested in a return to his homeland.
Netting six goals in his most prolific league season since 2009/10, Dorrans would certainly be moving to Ibrox at the peak of his powers – unlike many of the players brought to the club by previous manager Mark Warburton.

The question, however, is whether the asking price is too much for a player who turned 30 earlier this month.
The famously scrupulous King promised Caixinha that he would make funds available for a squad overhaul this summer, as reported by the Scottish Sun. But the Portuguese would still need to ensure every penny is invested wisely.
Therefore, perhaps he would be better off prioritising the likes of Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean, five years younger than Dorrans and improving by the year. The Scottish Sun claims that Caixinha is keen.
