Having struggled to make much of an impact since joining Tottenham Hotspur, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou provided an indication of the quality that he possesses with an encouraging performance in the Champions League last week.

The lively winger found the net as Tottenham prevailed past APOEL Nicosia in a 3-0 victory, but, despite his impressive display, N’Koudou didn’t even make the bench for the Premier League game against Stoke City at the weekend.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has lots of options at his disposal, especially now that Erik Lamela is back from injury, but N’Koudou could be forgiven for wondering whether he will ever be able to force his way into the Tottenham team.

Now almost halfway through his second season at the club, N’Koudou has made just nine Premier League appearances for Tottenham, amounting to just 47 minutes of playing time in total.

Although, at the age of 22, he is still rather young, the prospect certainly needs to be playing more regularly in order to enhance his development and at present it is difficult to envisage him being given the chance to make a major impact at Tottenham.

Perhaps, then, a loan spell away from Tottenham in January would be beneficial in terms of giving N’Koudou the platform he needs to showcase his credentials.

Even he does impress elsewhere, however, it will still be difficult for N’Koudou to become a major part of Pochettino’s plans.
