West Ham United manager David Moyes is still familiarising himself with the squad that he has at his disposal but one position in which he could soon have to make a difficult choice is at left-back.

It has been evident this season that West Ham have been vulnerable defensively – they have conceded 25 goals in the Premier League, more than any other club in the division.

Something certainly has to change if West Ham are to improve in that regard and Moyes could well give consideration to starting Arthur Masuaku at the expense of Aaron Cresswell.

Cresswell, like many West Ham players, has struggled this season and the defender has frequently been caught out of position.

Masuaku has his faults defensively, too, but the 24-year-old has shown some signs that he is starting to improve in that regard, while he offers a dangerous attacking threat with his frequent bursts forward.

A fine crosser of the ball, Masuaku made assists in consecutive Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City in September after coming on as a substitute in both fixtures.

Masuaku will hope that Moyes will give him a regular run in the side, which would increase his confidence and could potentially help West Ham to improve both defensively and going forwards.
