Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri has not made a single appearance in the Championship this season.

The 2016-17 season has been a hugely disappointing one for Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri. The 26-year-old has been nothing more than a squad player, as Leeds narrowly failed to finish in the top six of the Championship.

Silvestri did not make a single appearance for the Whites in the league. The Italian goalkeeper, though, played four times in the League Cup and twice in the FA Cup.

Injury did have a negative effect on the former Italy Under-21 international, but the main reason why he did not feature prominently this season was due to the form of Robert Green.

Signed in the summer of 2016, the 37-year-old former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers custodian established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for Leeds this season.

Silvestri is a good goalkeeper and has proved during his time at Leeds that he is capable of playing in the Championship.

However, would the Italian be happy playing second fiddle to Green for yet another season? Silvestri’s posts on Twitter and Instagram, though, suggest that he will be back at Leeds for the 2017-18 campaign.
