Leeds United have been linked with a move for the Bolton Wanderers player.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United are among the clubs interested in signing Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela in January, and one wonders if the Whites are keeping a British core despite signing a raft of foreign players in the summer.
While Leeds’ defence and attack are full of players from abroad, that is not the case in the centre of the park, where Thomas Christiansen has only British and Irish options when it comes to midfield (with Mateusz Klich overlooked time and again).
Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane are currently competing for those positions and, if Vela joins them, he will be yet another Englishman tasked with performing in the engine room of this impressive Leeds side.

Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta has come in for some criticism this season for relying on the foreign market for the vast majority of his purchases. However, a key area of Christiansen’s side remains very much home-grown and if Vela joined he would only add to that number.
Leeds appear to have settled on a winning formula after a poor run of form earlier in the campaign. Yet they will not rest on their laurels and will know that, with a few more signings, they could ultimately secure promotion back to the top flight after far too long away.
