The Leeds United player is out of favour but deserves another shot.
Much has been written about Leeds United striker Lee Erwin, debating whether the 22-year-old was given enough chances to prove himself at Elland Road and whether his time at the club is up.
But given his age, lack of first-team opportunities at the Whites and recent upturn in form, he at least deserves another pre-season to prove himself to Leeds boss Garry Monk.
The former Motherwell forward is currently on loan at Oldham Athletic and his last outing saw him score a match-winning brace in a 2-1 victory against Oxford United.
It was easily his best performance of the season so far, taking his tally to seven for the season, and while that is nothing to write home about it is worth noting that he has been in and out of the side in the latter months of the campaign.
When you consider how many chances some under-performing Leeds players have had in the past, surely Erwin deserves a fair crack of the whip.
Only Monk will know what he has planned for the young Scot, but considering Leeds’ lack of goal-scoring alternatives to Chris Wood, it would be foolish to dismiss him out hand.
