When Wolves allowed Jed Wallace to join Millwall on a permanent deal in the summer, it is unlikely that many fans of the Molineux outfit would have been particularly disappointed.

The 23-year-old made little impact when actually playing for Wolves, making just 18 Championship appearances for the side with just 11 of those games coming in the starting lineup.

He spent much of his time on Wolves’ books on loan at The Den before joining them permanently in the summer. But based on how he has started this season, perhaps it would be fair to suggest that Wolves should have given him more of a chance before letting him leave.

Though he made little impact in the defeat to his old side recently, Wallace currently tops Millwall’s scoring charts in the second tier – with three goals coming in seven appearances.

One of those goals came in the draw with Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday, while he also set up the Lions’ first at Loftus Road.

Though his form may have been completely different had he stayed as part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, his current tally would make him Wolves’ joint top goalscorer if he had stayed and replicated the form he has shown for Neil Harris’ men.

Given the quality that Wolves added to their ranks over the summer, Wallace would probably not have been a regular starter had he not moved, but his form arguably suggests that he could have certainly contributed to the depth within their ranks as the season goes on.
