West Ham United have been linked with a host of players this summer including Jack Wilshere.

Jack Wilshere of Arsenal is closed down by Tiemoue Bakayoko of Chelsea during the Carabao Cup Semi-Final Second Leg at Emirates Stadium on January 24, 2018 in London, England.

According to The Express, new West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini wants to sign the 26-year-old England international midfielder on a free transfer this summer.

West Ham owners David Sullivan and David Gold have pledged to splash the cash and back Pellegrini this summer by ‘spending more than ever before’.

Hammers fans have been impressed with the free transfer signing of right back Ryan Fredericks from Fulham and would love to see Wilshere follow him to the London Stadium.

A boyhood West Ham fan from a family of Hammers, Wilshere has even been urged to join the East Londoners by former Arsenal forward Paul Mariner, as reported by ESPN UK.

Speculation online claims West Ham are not interested due to concerns over Wilshere’s injury record and wage demands.

But the midfielder’s social media activity of late hinted something may well be afoot.

First he posted on social media stating a “new chapter is coming” before then deleting ‘Arsenal’ from his online bio on Twitter and Instagram.

Jack Wilshere of Arsenal celebrates victory with fans during the Carabao Cup Semi-Final Second Leg at Emirates Stadium on January 24, 2018 in London, England.

He then recently followed the West Ham official Twitter account as well as captain Mark Noble, former striker Dean Ashton and other Hammers fans accounts on the social network.

West Ham fans will be hoping that is a sign he is on his way to the London Stadium with the likes of Everton, Wolves and Newcastle also linked.

But is it just a red herring? After all Wilshere is a boyhood West Ham fan from a family of Hammers and has previously cited Paolo Di Canio as his idol growing up.

Only time will tell.
