Leanne Crichton has praised Liam Cooper on BBC Sportsound (15/11, 20:26) for the Leeds United defender’s role in John Souttar scoring for Scotland against Denmark on Monday.
The Tartan Army beat Denmark 2-0 in their final World Cup qualifier to secure a home draw for the play-offs. Keeping their dream of reaching the Qatar tournament next year alive.
Cooper played the full 90-minutes in both of Scotland’s games this month. Marking the first time the centre-half has played full matches back-to-back in the same break since 2019.

Scotland’s win over Denmark also saw Cooper register his first international assist after 13-caps. Nodding the ball on to Souttar after meeting John McGinn’s corner at the back post.
Cooper peeled off Jens Jonsson at the rear of the six-yard box for an unchallenged header to perfectly find Souttar. He helped Scotland keep a third-straight clean sheet, as well.
Leeds captain Cooper also impressed former Scotland women’s international Crichton with his header to find Souttar. Pulling off a tactic that the Tartan Army had targeted all night.
“There is no coincidence, the delivery to the back post has been the aim from John McGinn every single time,” Crichton said.
“Liam Cooper does incredibly well to put it back across goal and John Souttar is alive to nod it home.”

Leeds star Cooper shines in back-to-back Scotland wins
Cooper produced a solid performance at both ends as the Leeds captain helped Scotland beat Denmark on Monday.
The 30-year-old was a reliable presence in Steve Clarke’s plans and put his body on the line when defending. His clearing headers also proved crucial as Cooper led from the backline.
It was a similar story for Cooper as the £6.5k-a-week Leeds defender helped Scotland beat Moldova and clinch a play-off spot last Friday, too.
He offered a commanding presence, and came close to scoring his first international goal. Only for Veaceslav Posmac to clear Cooper’s downward header off the line.
