Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers still have Harry Forrester on the books, but for how much longer?
You could forgive Rangers fans if they had forgotten about Harry Forrester. After all, the 27-year-old hasn’t kicked a ball for the Gers in over a year and his lack of success on loan at AFC Wimbledon means that he rarely gets the headlines which travel North of the border.
Forrester, signed by former Rangers boss Mark Warburton in 2016, did his bit in helping the Gers win promotion back to the Scottish Premiership, scoring five goals in eight starts in the second half of the 2015-16 campaign.
But fast forward almost two years and it is growing increasingly difficult to see him ever a being player for Rangers again – and he must know it.
Forrester, who has three goals and three assists in 31 League One outings this season, might return to the Scottish giants this summer to find a certain Jamie Murphy in his position and, if the Ibrox outfit can secure a permanent deal for the Brighton loanee, it’s not good news for the English winger.
Murphy has been a revelation on the left-hand side of Rangers’ attack since joining in January, scoring four and setting up five goals in 10 games for Graeme Murty’s side and Forrester is simply nowhere near as good.
Not only that, but Lee Wallace’s long-awaited return could see Declan John transformed into a left-sided attacker and even he might be more of a menace in the Premiership than Forrester.
He will have a year to go on his contract by this summer and it seems like it would make sense for all parties if he was sold.
