Georges-Kevin N’Koudou could be forgiven for being envious of his Tottenham Hotspur team-mates on Saturday.
Tottenham beat Arsenal 1-0 in a relatively one-sided North London derby to snatch the bragging rights and boost their hopes of finishing in the top four, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side now third in the Premier League and seven points clear of the Gunners back in sixth.
N’Koudou won’t have caught much of the match by virtue of the fact that his loan club Burnley were gearing up for their clash away to Swansea City and the Frenchman’s continued lack of impact for the Clarets doesn’t suggest that he’ll return to Spurs a reinvigorated player.
The 22-year-old earned a five-minute cameo in yesterday’s 1-0 defeat in South Wales and has only managed 48 minutes of Premier League football across his four appearances for Burnley.
N’Koudou is being kept out of the side by Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Aaron Lennon and, with respect to those two, the former Marseille winger should be comfortably ahead of them in the pecking order if he was good enough for Pochettino’s Tottenham.
He is still young but, at 22, N’Koudou should be far more established in England than he presently is and it looks like he has it all to do if he is to prove successful at Burnley, let alone Spurs.
