The Leeds United full-back has been impressive all season.

Leeds United manager Garry Monk has an interesting decision to make for the club’s upcoming matches against Norwich City and Wigan Athletic, opting between Gaetano Berardi and Charlie Taylor for the final 180 minutes of the regular season.

Leeds will be hoping there are play-off matches yet to come. However they have to win both their remaining fixtures and hope one of the sides above them goes into freefall.

Whatever happens, the Whites have to get six points and keep their fingers crossed, but who should start: Taylor or Berardi?

The former’s contract runs out this summer, meaning he could be playing his final two matches in a Leeds shirt, while Berardi has been superb for much of the campaign and was unlucky to be dropped for the recent 2-1 defeat away to Burton Albion.

The prospect of the Swiss defender having already started his last match of the campaign is bizarre when you consider how well he performed in Taylor’s absence, but it is a decision Monk could make as he scraps for the last few, vital points.

For all Taylor’s quality, Berardi is a real fan favourite who will still be at the club next season, so surely he deserves to start.

Taylor’s time at Leeds has been and gone, and unless he performs a dramatic U-turn and signs a new contract it makes no real sense to pick him ahead of his unsung teammate.
