Everton are reportedly trying to snap up Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal.

According to The Sun, Marcel Brands has his sights set on bringing Aaron Ramsey to Everton, and that may just suggest that they have bigger plans than signing Andre Gomes at the end of his loan spell.

Gomes has joined Everton from Barcelona until the end of the season, and there is excitement about seeing the Portuguese international in action at Goodison Park.

But if Ramsey was to arrive at Everton, then Gomes may no longer be needed.

Ramsey and Gomes both possess a lot of similar qualities, with the pair being energetic, box-to-box midfielders.

And Everton’s desire to sign Ramsey may suggest that signing Gomes permanently isn’t a top priority for the Toffees yet.

Gomes could, of course, force through a move to Everton with his performances.

But if Ramsey is on Everton’s wishlist, then Marco Silva’s side may just have bigger plans than signing him at the end of the season right now.
