Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas delivered his verdict on what the Clarets need to do during this month’s transfer window, if they are to enjoy a successful second half to their campaign, when writing a column for Sky Sports.

Burnley have been quite sensational so far this season, and currently sit in seventh position in the Premier League table, after their impressive return of 34 points from the 22 league games they have played thus far.

Sean Dyche deserves great credit for the manner in which he has gone about his business during his time at Turf Moor.

The 46-year-old has had to operate on a far inferior budget to those in and around the Clarets, but has instilled a certain type of desire and commitment into his players that enables them to compete way above what is expected of them on a weekly basis.

Nicholas, though, explained where the Lancashire outfit need to improve this month, when writing a column for Sky Sports:

Sean Dyche, Manager of Burnley reacts during the Premier League match between Everton and Burnley at Goodison Park on October 1, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

“Should Sean Dyche tinker with this team? Yes, of course. Robbie Brady is out for a while and I think he probably needs another centre-back with the replacements to Ben Mee and James Tarkowski shown to be limited. Whenever I see their line-up come through I wonder about the quality of their bench, so what they need is numbers. They’ve got plenty of options up front but other than that they probably need two players with versatility. There’s obviously not a great deal to worry about but just a couple of additions to keep the regulars on their toes.”

If Burnley manage to maintain their fine form, and end up finishing inside the Europa League spots, Dyche will surely stand a very good chance of winning the manager of the year award.

In order for them to do that, however, he will surely need to invest in his squad this month, with a busy schedule ahead for his side.
