Does disappointment of Fulham draw show just how far Leeds have come this season?

Given the nature of Leeds United’s 1-1 draw with Fulham earlier this week, Whites fans rightly felt aggrieved to have lost out on two points with practically the last kick of the game. But feeling such disappointment after drawing away to one of the Championship’s most in-form teams shows just how far the club has come under Garry Monk.

Leeds are enjoying a wonderful campaign with the former Swansea City boss at the helm, putting their early season woes behind them to move into the play-off places and stay there week after week, and while Tuesday may have been a case of two points lost, the point they did secure should not be understated.

Fulham knew that along with their game in hand, a victory over Leeds would give them a great chance of gate-crashing the top six with time running out. However, the Whites did not let that happen, proving – as they did against Birmingham City a few days earlier – that they are a real threat on the road as well as in the more familiar surroundings of Elland Road.

Leeds may have seen two points snatched away in dramatic circumstances but their fans should remember just how far they have come this season, with a return to the top flight well within their grasp if they keep their focus.
