Tottenham Hotspur reportedly face some big-spending competition to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura.

Lucas Moura #7 of Paris Saint-Germain tries to break away from Radja Nainggolan #4 of AS Roma during the second half at Comerica Park on July 19, 2017 in Detroit, Michigan.

Sky Sports understands that Chinese club Shandong Luneng Taishan, as well as Italian title-chasers Napoli, have joined the race to sign Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain this month.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are interested in signing the Brazilian, but seem to have prioritised a move for his compatriot Malcom of Bordeaux, with the two parties meeting in London for discussions last week.

If the latest reports about Moura are true, Spurs would be better off focussing all of their efforts on Malcom as they are highly unlikely to be able to compete with a Chinese Super League team.

Several of Moura’s international colleagues have moved to the Far East on lucrative contracts in recent seasons, including former Chelsea duo Oscar and Ramires, and the likes of Hulk and Alexandre Pato.

Moura is keen to leave PSG before the end of the January transfer window, having only made six appearances this season, and would fit the bill at Spurs who are in need of a fast and direct wide player.

However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy runs an infamously tight ship and would surely not be prepared to match the salary that would be on offer to the 25-year-old at Shandong Luneng Taishan.

Napoli, who are holding off Juventus at the top of Serie A, appear as though they are going to try to rival Shandong and have scheduled a meeting with Moura and his agent for Wednesday, Sky Sports reports.

Malcom could also be a tricky deal for Tottenham to close, with Bordeaux insistent that the winger won’t leave this month, but Sky Sports claim that Spurs are prepared to loan him back if an agreement is reached now.
