Crystal Palace failed to sign Spurs target Cenk Tosun in the summer – not that the Besiktas striker is enduring too many sleepless nights.

Though Palace’s hopes of luring Cenk Tosun to Selhurst Park have surely taken a huge hit after the Turkish international admitted that he was relieved to have missed out on a move to the Premier League strugglers in the summer.
Roy Hodgson’s side tabled a bid of £12.5 million on transfer deadline day (The Standard), only for reigning Super Lig champions Besiktas to reject the offer because they had no time to find a replacement.
And, two months on, Tosun clearly has no regrets about being denied the chance to add some much needed goal threat to a toothless Palace attack.
“About my transfer to Crystal Palace, I can say that I’m very happy the move failed. Because I get to stay at the club and I am doing very well at the moment in both the league and Champions League,” Tosun, now rated at around £20 million, told Milliyet.
The Sun reported recently that Palace had scouted Tosun during the most recent international break, and were plotting another move in January. However, it appears that the 26-year-old has greater ambitions than playing for a club who look set for a prolonged survival scrap in the second half of the campaign.
