It seems highly unlikely that Aston Villa would be pushing for Steven Caulker if they could also bring in John Terry.

Aston Villa’s interest in Steven Caulker may just hint that John Terry’s return is off the table.
According to West London Sport, Villa are set to try and sign Caulker on a trial basis.
Steve Bruce wants to land a centre-back to strengthen his defensive options and it looks like Caulker is on his wishlist.
And Villa’s interest in Caulker may well suggest that a move for Terry has proved impossible.
Bruce has made no secret of Villa’s desire to bring Terry back to the Midlands, but no deal has been announced.
The claret and blues have not been able to get a deal for the veteran done yet, and it appears that they are now exploring other avenues.

If Terry’s arrival was in the pipeline then it seems highly unlikely that Bruce would still be wanting to take Caulker on trial.
And Villa’s interest in the former QPR and Spurs man surely suggests that seeing Terry back at Villa Park this season is no longer a possibility.
