After beating Chelsea, West Ham should have even more confidence they can triumph against Arsenal in their next outing.

West Ham United were jubilant at the weekend as they beat champions Chelsea 1-0 to secure their first Premier League win since September 30.

It was also manager David Moyes’ first victory since taking charge at the club following the sacking of Slaven Bilic, but celebrations will have to be short-lived with matches coming thick and fast over the festive period.

Today (December 13) the Hammers face another tough challenge as Arsenal are the visitors to the London Stadium – yet should the home team have confidence of securing another triumph midweek?

The Gunners have been heavily criticised over the past few seasons and they are certainly no longer the daunting prospect they once were under boss Arsene Wenger, but they still sit fifth in the table and are the fourth highest scorers in the division.

However, it is the North Londoners’ woeful away form that should give Moyes and his men hope of repeating the same feat that they achieved against the Blues.

This season Wenger’s side have lost four of their eight league outings, winning only two and scoring nine goals during that time – five of which came against Everton in Ronald Koeman’s last game in charge.

In their last 20 fixtures away from the Emirates Stadium in the top flight of English football, they have won six, drawn three and lost 11.

Not only that, but particularly when not at home their 3-4-3 formation looks ready to be exploited, with Granit Xhaka struggling as a defensive midfielder and Per Mertesacker looking well off the pace at centre-back.
