Arguably the best performer on the night was right-back Anthony Ralston, so what chance the 18-year-old adding to his two senior appearances for Celtic in what remains of this campaign?
The Bhoys teenager has previously turned out for the senior side against St Johnstone in the Premiership and against Motherwell in the League Cup, but with only 24 minutes combined he will be hoping to get a start sooner rather than later.
Considering his performance against Rangers’ youth side on Wednesday evening, you would find few Celtic fans who feel he is undeserving of a start between now and the end of May, especially when you consider Brendan Rodgers’ side have wrapped up the league with time to spare.
Celtic are not afraid of giving youth a chance and Ralston is the real deal, his performance against Rangers hailed as “outstanding” by coach Tommy McIntyre in an interview with the club’s official website.
Only time will tell what Rodgers has planned for the 18-year-old, but if he wants to encourage more great performances from the next generation, rewarding Ralston with a first-team spot could be the perfect enticement.
