Rangers boss Mark Warburton considered a last minute move to bring Cameron to Ibrox this summer.

This summer Rangers were desperate to strengthen their defensive positions, where they so often struggled last term.

The club managed to bring in free transfers Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos to Ibrox, but they were also linked with bringing Bury defender Nathan Cameron to Glasgow.

Rangers boss Mark Warburton was said to be a fan from his time managing in England.

It was reported by the Scotsman and Daily Mail that Rangers were considering making a move for the 24-year-old Bury defender on transfer deadline day, but nothing ever came of the deal.

It would have been a risk. Cameron suffered a cartilage injury last season that kept him out for the final few months of the campaign.

Now it seems Rangers dodged a bullet by not making a panic move to bring him to Ibrox at the last minute.

Bury confirmed today, as reported by the BBC, that the talented centre-back is out for the majority of this season with yet another knee injury.

It is terrible news for the League One star and Rangers fans, along with any neutrals, will be wishing him a speedy recovery.

But he would have been a big waste of precious Ibrox resources if Rangers had made a move for him this summer.
