Some Liverpool fans are urging their side not to sign a player they’re reportedly chasing, after watching him in action.
According to The Daily Star, Liverpool are set to go head-to-head with Manchester City to sign the Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos this summer.
And the newspaper claims both clubs are willing to meet the Brazilian’s £70 million buy-out clause.
Diego Carlos has impressed in his first season at Sevilla, following a £13.5m transfer from Nantes.
And, as well as helping his team to fourth in La Liga, where they boasted the division’s third-best defence last term, the 27-year-old has played a key role in their passage to the Europa League final.
But his campaign has not been without hiccups, as fans of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United should be aware, with their sides having been awarded penalties at the expense of Diego Carlos in their respective quarter- and semi-final ties.

And the uncapped star made it a hat-trick in Friday’s final against Inter Milan, after he brought down Romelu Lukaku as early as the fourth minute – although he later redeemed himself with the winning goal.
This is how those of a Liverpool persuasion are reacting on Twitter…
