Leeds fans have now been treated to the news that Pascal Struijk has signed a new long-term contract at Elland Road.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who believes the Dutchman has been rewarded for his excellent form this season with a new deal, which will run until June 2027.
What’s the story?
Well, the reliable Italian journalist has shared further details on Struijk’s new contract.
Romano claims that the 23-year-old has also been given a pay rise, which puts him in line with those key players who are considered vital to Jesse Marsch.
Struijk’s previous deal was set to expire in June 2024, which would have left Leeds in a precarious position at the end of the season, when he would’ve had just 12 months remaining on his terms.
Now, Marsch and the Elland Road faithful can breathe a bit easier after securing the future of an important cog.
Struijk has made 13 appearances in the Premier League for Leeds so far this season, scoring one goal while also providing one assist.
Impressively, the Belgium-born defender has been performing so commandingly despite having to cover at left-back, away from his natural position in the centre of defence.
Struijk contract is fantastic for Leeds
In our view, Struijk is a player who could see his value soar in a year or two, if he keeps playing like he currently is.
The Leeds No.21 has already amassed 69 Premier League appearances at the age of 23, and is someone we wouldn’t be surprised to see become a leading defender in England’s top-flight very soon.

In that respect, it was very important for Leeds to tie him down to a new contract, as a strong second half of the campaign may have seen bigger sides come in and turn his head.
Now, Leeds can enjoy Struijk’s excellent displays, without having to worry about losing him on the cheap.
