West Ham United reportedly want to bring Real Madrid’s La Liga midfielder Dani Ceballos to the Premier League but will Manuel Pellegrini get his man?
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has told Dani Ceballos that he is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu with the Spanish international linked with a move to West Ham United, as reported by Marca.
The Mirror reported in April that the Hammers were planning an £18 million move for the skilful Ceballos, a gifted play-maker who shot to fame with his exceptional performances for Spain at the U21 European Championships in 2017.
Those displays sealed a move from Real Betis to Real Madrid but the 22-year-old has struggled to make the step up at arguably the world’s biggest club.
Ceballos has featured in just one of Real’s last six La Liga games, having also found game time hard to come by during Zidane’s first spell at the helm.
According to Marca, the former France international has now told Ceballos that he has no future in Madrid, with the six-cap international accepting that he is on ‘borrowed time’. Zidane has also told Gareth Bale and Marcos Llorente that they are free to leave.
So the door is open for West Ham to sign a player who Spain coach Luis Enrique thinks is a ‘special‘ talent (ESPN). Zidane, it seems, does not share Enrique’s enthusiasm.
