George Evans has reportedly stalled on a move to League One Sunderland from Championship outfit Reading amid interest from Derby County.

As many Sunderland fans will argue, the club are stuck the position they’re in right now because of players who just aren’t committed to the cause.
And while it would be a little unfair to question George Evans in that department, reports from the Northern Echo that he is stalling on a move to Wearside is enough for Sunderland supporters to demand that the deal is called off.
The Chronicle reported recently that The Black Cats had agreed a fee of around £1 million for the 23-year-old midfielder with personal terms not expected to represent much of an obstacle.

Now, you can’t really blame Evans, who started the Championship play-off final just 14 months ago, from wanting to play at the highest level possible. But supporters will remember those passionate comments from co-owner Charlie Methven at the start of the window with Evans clearly not convinced about a move to the Stadium of Light.
“The reputation of Sunderland in the game is that this is a place where people have come to take the p**s, and I am sorry to say but that is the truth,” he told the Roker Report podcast.
“People have come here not because they passionately want to be here, but because they’ve heard this is a place where you’ll get paid really well.”
There is no suggestion that Evans is in it for the money. But if he doesn’t want to be at Sunderland, the fans will argue that the deal should now be dead in the water.
