Leeds United thrashed York City 5-0 in pre-season with Jack Harrison, Pablo Hernandez, Kemar Roofe and Adam Forshaw scoring.

York City boss Steve Watson has piled the praise on Leeds United after Marcelo Bielsa’s side swept aside their non-league opponents 5-0 in Wednesday’s pre-season friendly clash at Bootham Crescent, speaking to the club’s official Twitter feed.
In their first outing of 2019/20, Leeds stormed to victory away from home with Jack Harrison, who has returned for another season on loan from Manchester City, the undoubted star of the show.
The winger scored twice and set up another for the exit-linked Kemar Roofe while Pablo Hernandez and Adam Forshaw also found the target in what proved to be a comfortable and clinical victory for the West Yorkshire giants.
And former Newcastle United and Everton defender Watson had no complaints, focusing instead on the power and ability of York’s opponents.
“(My York team) won’t face anything like that again this season, unless we get to the FA Cup semi-finals! Some of the goals were just very clinical,” Watson said.
“That was virtually a Premier League team. So we were always going to struggle, they were always going to have excellent energy levels and be technically amazing.”

While Harrison and Hernandez are clearly up to speed already, a number of youngsters also made their mark while giving Bielsa something to think about with the Championship season just a month away.
Alfie McCalmont started and looked very assured in the centre of the park while Bryce Hosannah was arguably the best of the second-half introductions, making a number of key interventions at centre-half.
Maybe Leeds don’t need to spend big to replace Pontus Jansson after all.
