Mohamed Elyounoussi didn’t score in 19 games for Premier League Southampton but he is already Celtic’s Europa League hero.

In 19 games, Mohamed Elyounoussi failed to score a single goal for Southampton during a miserable debut season at St Mary’s.
To say the Saints faithful expected better from a £16 million forward, one who had scored 13 times during his final year at Basel and ran Manchester City ragged in the Champions League, would be one hell of an understatement.
And, just to add to the frustration on the south coast, Elyounoussi has hit the ground running since leaving Southampton for a season-long loan at Celtic.

It’s taken just four games for the Norway international to open his account in green and white and there are worse times to find the net for the first time for your new club. Elyounoussi started and finished a flowing move to seal Celtic’s 2-0 win against CFR Cluj in the Europa League group stage on Thursday night, a result which puts the knockout round in sight already.
That was the icing on a stand-out performance from a forward who is finally starting to look like a £16 million man, the player Southampton thought they were getting a year ago. But there’s still time for Elyounoussi to save his Saints career and he should return next summer with his confidence sky high.
