Dominic Solanke was wanted by Scottish Premiership giants Celtic last year before he swapped Chelsea for Premier League rivals Liverpool.
For the second year in a row, Celtic are hoping to sign an England youth striker who is crying out for a chance to prove himself in senior football.
In May 2017, the Daily Record stated that Brendan Rodgers was interested in nabbing Dominic Solanke with his contract at Chelsea set to come to an end. The highly-rated youngster had long been seen as one of English football’s brightest prospects so Rodgers would have been disappointed when he joined his former side Liverpool instead.
But, one year on, are Celtic attempting a deal that would blow Solanke out of the water?
Now, the 18-year-old is yet to make his senior debut but has shone at youth level. He was the eight-goal top scorer as England won the U17 World Cup last year and has scored or assisted 12 goals in the Premier League 2 for Liverpool this season.
In fact, some see Brewster now as the most promising young striker at Anfield – even ahead of Solanke. The teenager looks a more natural goalscorer than Solanke, who has struggled to really make an impression in what was supposed to be his first year of professional first-team football.
Despite being two years youngster and completely unproven at this level, would signing Brewster be even more impressive than a deal for Solanke?
