Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering offering Wigan Athletic boss Paul Cook the chance to prove himself in the Championship.

Paul Cook is a manager on the up. After leading Portsmouth to the League Two title last season, the 50-year-old is on track to repeat the feat with Wigan Athletic in the second tier.
Cook has got a talented Latics squad playing to their potential and, as it stands, they are two points clear at the top of League One, and their tally of 50 goals in 2017/18 is one only Luton Town can better.
The former Chesterfield boss has certainly earned a chance at a higher level and, according to the Nottingham Post, he could get his big break at Nottingham Forest.

It is understood that Cook is on the shortlist to replace Mark Warburton at the City Ground along with Barnsley’s Paul Heckingbottom, former Brighton manager Oscar Garcia and current bookies favourite Aitor Karanka, who led Middlesbrough to promotion from the Championship in 2016.
But while it would be a disaster for Wigan to see the back of Cook in such a promising position, would they be at risk of losing a key player or two if their influential manager made the step up to a higher division.
Will Grigg’s superb run of form for the League One leaders certainly suggests that he deserves another chance in the Championship. The Northern Ireland international is on fire again and has seven goals in 15 starts this season, all coming in a remarkable purple patch during November and December.

As it stands, no striker in Forest’s squad has more than seven to their name so do not be surprised if Grigg is tipped to follow Cook to the East Midlands.
