Wilfried Bony’s second spell at Swansea is far removed from his prolific first – and the signing of Groningen’s Mahi could pose him a big problem.

Mimoun Mahi’s tally of 16 goals in 26 games in 2017 has the Moroccan striker tipped to depart FC Groningen in the January transfer window.
The Sun claims that Premier League duo Swansea and Stoke City are interested in signing the 23-year-old speedster, who has a rather tempting £2 million release clause in his contract. The report adds that Nottingham Forest are also interested, as are a Bristol City side who had a bid rejected in the summer.
And you wonder whether, if Swansea win the race for Mahi in the New Year, the in-form striker will move to the Liberty Stadium to compensate for the struggles of another striker who swapped Holland for Britain.

Wilfried Bony averaged a hugely impressive one-in-two goal ratio in his two-and-a-half years at Swansea, when signing from Vitesse Arnhem back in 2011.
Since returning to South Wales this summer for £12 million after an ill-fated move to Manchester City, and a dreadful loan spell at Stoke, the Ivory Coast international looks a shadow of his former self.

Swansea boss Paul Clement has preached patience with fans concerned about Bony’s performances. But the facts are that the 28-year-old is yet to score in four Premier League games back in Swansea colours.
And the potential arrival of Mahi, another player who made his name in the notoriously buccaneering Dutch top flight, threatens to provide another obstacle to Bony’s chances of being Swansea’s star man once again.
