Would appointing Luis Enrique make or break Sandro Ramirez at Everton?

Premier League giants Everton are reportedly considering an ambitious approach for the former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique to replace Sam Allardyce.

After an underwhelming second season at the helm of Everton Football Club, majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is thinking big.

As reported by the Daily Star, Sam Allardyce looks unlikely to be kept on at Goodison Park beyond this campaign, after steadying the ship somewhat but still finding wins hard to come by and being heavily criticised by supporters for a pragmatic style of play.

And the Star claims that Moshiri is looking right to the top for his next manager, with former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique in his sights.

How such an appointment, albeit perhaps an unlikely one, would go down with Sandro Ramirez remains to be seen.

After all, Everton’s Spanish U21 striker said recently that he had no desire to return to Merseyside after a dreadful first few months in England, which resulted in just three Premier League starts. Sandro returned to La Liga on loan with Sevilla in January.

It was Luis Enrique who handed Sandro his professional debut in August 2014, with the La Masia graduate replacing Pedro in a La Liga clash with Villarreal and scoring the only goal of the game. So the former Roma and Celta Vigo coach – who famously won the treble in 2015 – knows just what Sandro is all about.

Then again, he clearly was not too impressed either. Sandro quickly became obsolete at the Camp Nou, making just 17 league appearances in two seasons, and it was on Enrique’s watch that the youngster left for Malaga in 2016.

So while Enrique knows Sandro well, that may not necessarily be a good thing.
