Swansea City’s Championship youngster Connor Roberts has reportedly been lined up to replace Mikael Lustig at Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

Say what you like about Mikael Lustig – and many Celtic fans have been doing exactly that of late – the veteran Swede is a proven winner, with the CV to back it up.
Since moving to Glasgow from Rosenborg back in 2011, the long-serving right-back has claimed 13 trophies, including seven successive Scottish Premiership titles.
And while Lustig may no longer be at the peak of his powers – indeed, he has been subjected to some intense criticism of late – anyone who arrives at Parkhead looking to replace him will have to prove that they have a strong mentality and character as well as the quality.
So Swansea City’s Connor Roberts would have a lot to prove if he is chosen to fill Lustig’s boots should the veteran depart Celtic when his contract expires at the end of this season.
The Express reports that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is interested in raiding his former club for the 23-year-old Wales international, who has only established himself in Swansea’s first-team since August.

There is no doubting Roberts’ potential; he is an exciting, attack-minded full-back capable of chipping in with goals and assists. But he has made just a smattering of first-team starts for club and country and has no experience of playing in a goldfish bowl environment such is Celtic, where success is non-negotiable. Roberts joining The Hoops would be a leap into the deep end after a rather comfortable life in South Wales.
